Makeup Review: Maybelline Falsies Mascara I picked this up at the pharmacy about a month back. It was on sale and I had heard good stuff about it. I’m not the usual makeup wearing type, but since my job requires me to look relatively decent, and I study pretty late most nights, I try to put on some mascara and eyeliner to make me look less deathly. This is AMAZING! It makes my eyes look more open and it actually looks like I have fake eyelashes on (in the ‘omg nice eyelashes!’ way, not the ‘uhh, your eyelash just fell in my soup’ way). PROS: The color is black. Really black. A perfect shade of black to make my eyes look wide open and draw attention towards them and away from the pimple on my nose. The wand is curved so it covers every lash evenly. I find straight wands make the mascara clump up when you go over it (which I am bound to do considering I’m trying to cover every lash). It cost $5 on sale! The product inside is liquidy, but not too liquidy. It kind of looks like ink. CONS: It looks weird if I don’t curl my eyelashes first. It makes it look like my eyelashes are defying gravity. The product is a bit too liquidy to apply on-the-go (or on-the-bus as I like to do). Overall, I think this mascara is amazing, inexpensive and the perfect mascara for every day wear. OVERALL RATING: 9.3/10

App Review: Cat Physics (game) I got this game for free and I can’t stop playing it! It is challenging, frustrating, fun and some levels are almost impossible. It’s the kind of game that makes you go ‘OH MY GOD THIS IS SO ANNOYING!’ out loud on the metro while the guy next to you tries to figure out how to solve it discreetly. I definitely recommend wasting some time with it; I like to play iPod games in my bath so this one just makes me wrinkly and frustrated. In a good way. PROS: Challenging levels Option to replay levels to increase your score Not too long and ability to resume play CONS: You can only move to the next level if you solve the current one (not too bad of an idea but when a level is almost impossible, it’s a bit frustrating) There isn’t really anything bad to say about this game. Definitely recommended. OVERALL RATING: 9.2/10

App Review: Cat Physics (game)

It is challenging, frustrating, fun and some levels are almost impossible. It’s the kind of game that makes you go ‘OH MY GOD THIS IS SO ANNOYING!’ out loud on the metro while the guy next to you tries to figure out how to solve it discreetly.

I definitely recommend wasting some time with it; I like to play iPod games in my bath so this one just makes me wrinkly and frustrated. In a good way.

  • Challenging levels
  • Option to replay levels to increase your score
  • Not too long and ability to resume play


CONS:

  • You can only move to the next level if you solve the current one (not too bad of an idea but when a level is almost impossible, it’s a bit frustrating)


There isn’t really anything bad to say about this game. Definitely recommended.

Workout Video Review: Turbo Jam I purchased Turbo Jam off an infomercial at 3 in the morning about a year ago. It came with ~3lb gloves and a diet/recipe booklet. Truthfully, I haven’t followed the recipe booklet cause that would consist of changing my strict diet of grilled cheese, onion rings, coffee and alcohol.  It’s really strict, yo. In regards to the actual DVDs though, I am more than impressed.  PROS: There are 5 workouts to choose from, ranging from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. This is amazing because I like to work out in the morning while everyone is asleep because (a) no one has to watch me jump up and down cursing at the tv like a crackhead and (b) I find it easier to motivate myself when I’m not exhausted from working all day. Chalene Johnson is adorable. Not ‘omg you’re so cute I’m gonna ignore you’ adorable, but more ‘you’re so adorable I’m gonna pretend we’re dancing together at a club’.  Until she makes me do jumping jacks. Then she’s not so cute anymore. The intro is a perfect length so that you can stretch and be done in time for the warm-up. You can skip segments if you don’t feel like doing that specific part of the workout (ahem, kicks) and you can also take quick 30-45 second breaks to catch your breath. There is an easier option for every move which is good cause I freakin hate jumping jacks. The hand weights are the perfect weight so that you don’t feel like you’re carrying a cinder block, nor building muscles like grandma on steroids. CONS: The cooldown is too short in some workouts. I feel like I need to take another 3 minutes to stretch out so I’m not completely sore the next day. Did I mention I hate jumping jacks? You can’t do the same workout every day. I know this is normal for workouts, but eventually you get used to the moves and/or bored of them and it’s unmotivating. Overall, I love this DVD. Chalene actually motivates me and although I’ve told her to ‘shutup no way am I doing that’ at least 37 times, I really like the way it feels like you’re just dancing like an idiot, rather than running away from a ferocious lion who has strategically placed obstacles in your path that you can only dodge by doing jumping jacks. OVERALL RATING: 8.7/10
